What’s your favorite part of your job?
I believe that financial planning should be about making the most out of this life with which we have been blessed. The goal should not just be to maximize our money, but to maximize our long-term happiness. So my favorite part of the job is helping clients dream about the kinds of lives they would love to have, and then share in their excitement as we work together to meet those dreams.
What makes a good financial planner?
As a good financial planner, my most valuable skill is listening. Of course you need to know how to identify and solve financial planning issues, but what makes a financial planner good is the ability to listen to what people are really saying. I don’t just listen to their words but also pay attention to their body language. Too often when planners go into a meeting they do most of the talking, they rush to get through the topics they want to discuss, and can end up recommending the wrong solution.
What do you do for fun?
I love music, so my favorite thing to do for fun is attending concerts. I also enjoy wandering through art museums, experiencing new pleasures at a food and wine festival, watching baseball games, and relaxing on the beach.
