History

Pinnacle Advisory Group is a private wealth management firm, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, with an office in Miami, Florida. We work with more than 1230 families and manage approximately $2 billion (USD) in assets for clients both in the mid-Atlantic region, and around the world.

We serve as our clients’ personal Chief Financial Officer, and act as a fiduciary on their behalf, to help keep you on track in a responsible way, through the combination of comprehensive financial planning and active portfolio management.
Our team has a single mission: to help our clients achieve their goals and manage their financial lives. 
When we take on new clients, they become part of our extended family, and in the past two decades, we’ve developed multi-generational relationships with many of them.

Those we work with include expats, successful professionals, corporate executives, business owners, entrepreneurs, and individuals and families with substantial and complex assets. While our clients’ investable assets typically exceed $1 million (USD), we are able to serve clients at every asset level.

Our Fees

Pinnacle charges clients a fee based on the amount of money we manage on their behalf. Unlike traditional brokers or dealers, we act as a fiduciary, so there are no commissions and we sell no products or separate financial instruments as investments.
To give you an idea of what you might expect to pay, here are five blended rates based on our fee schedule:
  • $1 million (USD) = 1.08%
  • $2 million (USD) = .95%
  • $3 million (USD) = .89%
  • $4 million (USD) = .85%
  • $5 million (USD) = .82%

For Example
  • Clients with $650,000 (USD) in assets under management (AUM) will be charged annually 1.3% of the first $500K (USD), plus 0.85% on the next $150K (USD).
  • Clients with $2,750,000 (USD) AUM are billed 1.3% on the first $500K (USD), plus 0.85% on the next $1M (USD), 0.80% of the next $1M (USD), plus 0.75% of the remaining $250K (USD).
  • Clients with $6,250,000 (USD) AUM are billed 1.3% on the first $500K (USD), plus 0.85% on the next $1M (USD), 0.80% of the next $1M (USD), plus 0.75% of the next $1M (USD), plus 0.70% of the next $1.5M (USD), plus 0.60% of the remaining $1.25M (USD).
Management fees are based upon a percentage of the assets under management and are paid pro-rata in January, April, July, October. Fees are paid in advance at the beginning of each billing period, and are assessed based upon the account asset value(s) on the last business day of the previous billing period. When an account is established, the management fee is charged for the remainder of the current billing period and is based upon the initial contributions. Some transaction fees are passed on to our clients and could be higher in the first year as our strategy is implemented.
* The fee schedule above is for new individual clients of Pinnacle Advisory Group, Inc. who meet the minimum asset management requirement and who are assigned a Pinnacle advisor to assist them with financial planning and investment management objectives. This fee schedule is not necessarily in place for institutional/401(k) management or other ancillary business areas at Pinnacle.
